Re-designing your living space through home decluttering

by Sophia Perry

Decluttering your home has multiple benefits and you should definitely do it every once in a while. First of all, you will get more space in your home. Next, you can reduce your moving costs and have fewer items to pack if you’re relocating. And finally, you can make your home better, if you remove all the things you don’t need. You can live in a more harmonious and efficient home, where each room is nicely

decorated, spacious and clean. Here are some ways of re-designing your living space through home decluttering to help you have a nicer home!

Why decluttering is so important?

Before you embark on this journey, you should understand the reasons why decluttering your home is important. First of all, it’s about the atmosphere and state of mind. Rooms filled with unnecessary, broken or old items often look dimmed, dirty and give a depressing vibe. Also, in a room full of clutter, you can't express your designing ideas and have a home you’ve always wanted. Another reason is health – cluttered rooms are often dirtier. They are difficult to clean, and people don’t tackle them very often because they take a lot of work to make them spotless. A bright, simple home is easier to tidy, and

it gives you more space and light to function properly. By re-designing your living space through home decluttering, you can create a peaceful oasis, where all the stress from the outside disappears when you arrive.

Is it possible to work and live properly in a mess? Think of re-designing your living space through home decluttering.

When is the best time to declutter your home?

Decluttering the whole house is never easy, especially if you live in a multiple-bedroom house. That’s why you should do it along with some other big task – like moving house. Since you already need to pack all the items in your home, use this opportunity to remove all the things you don’t need before you put everything into moving boxes. This will surely help a lot with your unpacking process, and reduce the moving costs, too.

If you’re moving into a smaller apartment, but you don’t want to give up on certain items, renting a storage unit is a great option. Just be sure you’re using the right packing supplies when storing – to protect your items from damage.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the rooms that have a lot of clutter, but it should be practical and spacious. If your family spends plenty of time in the kitchen, having meals together, cooking, etc. – you need to do everything to make it more roomy, light and clean. Start with your cabinets, and take away all the items you aren’t using, or that are broken. Also, go through your food supplies and remove all the food that’s expired, or that you simply don’t eat. And finally, remove all the items that don’t belong to the kitchen area – papers, bills, pens, etc.

You can place some of these appliances in storage as well. Just be sure you’re transporting home appliances safely, to avoid additional damage and mess.

One of the ways to update your kitchen is to declutter it and create a more practical and cleaner space.

After removing everything you don’t need, you should now have only the things you really use on a daily basis. And one of the ways of re-designing your living space through home decluttering is to create an open-shelf kitchen space that is very practical and modern. Shelves will help you reach all the things more easily, prevent you from forgetting about certain dishes and food and therefore help keep your

kitchen organized.

Creating a more spacious living room

As we spend most of our time in the living room, this living space needs to be clutter-free and organized as much as possible. There are plenty of ways to ‘hide’ the clutter, but be sure to remove all the things that are no longer necessary. These include old newspapers and magazines,

One key component of decluttering is having a place to store everything. If you need assistance in planning a space that works for you, contact Dafna at 516-234-5425 or
